Murphy Ranch
How would you like to wake up in the morning?
The moment you draw back the curtains, sunlight gently spills across your face. The mountain mist begins to lift, slowly unveiling the landscape. This luxury contemporary home, nestled in the Puente Hills, is designed with southeast-facing terraces that capture this magical moment for the owner and their guests.
-
A modern mansion that balances two lives: a refined social space for hosting business partners, and a quiet, natureconnected retreat for personal rural living. (with deers, goats, rabbits, chickens, and more....)
-
Despite the large lot, the site has a very narrow frontage—and an existing house the client described as a “spider monster.”
-
We turned the limitation into an opportunity. The narrow front creates a natural privacy buffer, opening the rear to peaceful views. We crafted a bold, welcoming entrance that gracefully transitions to more intimate spaces—culminating in a private villa wing dedicated to the client’s personal life.
-
While most architects would tear down and rebuild, we took a different path. Though the client initially disliked the existing house, we showed how thoughtful design could completely reframe it. By preserving much of the structure, we reduced environmental impact while delivering a refined, cohesive transformation.
Leveraging our background in luxury retail interiors, we also bring commercial-grade resources and global fabricators to our residential work—achieving higher customization at a more reasonable cost.
The client chose to name his home On Cloud Nine—a reflection of his legacy and spirit. In response, we designed and custom-crafted an airy sculptural chandelier that floats across the double-height living room. Positioned just above the second-floor slab, it creates a dreamlike moment where guests on the upper level feel as though they’re walking through the clouds.
