Pine Mountain

Concept

A quiet cabinet, a steep slope, and a view that holds generations.

Tucked into a wooded hillside, this vacation home was designed as a cozy, joyful place to gather, slow down, and take in the mountain valley beyond. Sometimes all you need is a simple frame for the view—and a little sunlight to make it sing

  • A 2,300 sq ft vacation home on a steep, wooded slope overlooking a stunning mountain valley. The goal: a cozy, joyful retreat for making lasting family memories.

  • When designing in nature, many architects opt for low-profile buildings that aim to blend in—but often at the cost of significant grading and disruption to the land. We believe true environmental sensitivity lies not just in appearance but in impact. For this project, on a deer-populated hillside, we chose a compact footprint that minimizes site disturbance while staying below the tree canopy—preserving both the views and the ecosystem.
